Machining
PHB Machining is housed in a 158,000 sq ft facility located next to the die cast plant. This allows immediate feedback on casting integrity and order requirements. Materials are easily transferred between the two plants to minimize queue time. Scheduling allows for parts to be cast and machined simultaneously.
PHB Machining offers CNC close tolerance capability in turning, milling, drilling, boring, tapping, assembly and impregnation.
We have thirteen (13) CNC lathes, twenty-eight (28) CNC Horizontal machine centers and fifteen (15) Vertical machine centers. These machine centers have spindle speeds up to 18000 rpm and can manufacture parts up to 36" in diameter. High pressure coolant and 4th axis capabilities are also featured. We have a twenty-eight (28) station Palletech System which allows for quick changeovers and competitive pricing on small volume work. We also do I.D. and O.D. grinding on parts which require close tolerances on diameters.
Although we machine primarily die cast aluminum, we also purchase and machine sand castings, cast iron, steel forgings, ductile iron, bar stock, and plastic.
PHB Machining has a diversified supplier base that allows us to offer services such as: plating, painting, mag particle inspection, balancing, and heat treating.
Our assembly department has expanded into brazing, leak testing, and helicoil insertion.
We also purchase components and do manual assembly when required. This allows the parts to be sent to the customers ready for use.
Our state of the art Quality Assurance lab ensures that the product being shipped meets the customer standards. We have four (4) coordinate measuring machines which can handle in-process checks to first piece layouts, PPAPs and Quarterly statistics. We also offer Millipore testing that can measure the cleanliness of the parts and make sure that our process is meeting the customer standards.
We use Imprex 95-1000A resin in our impregnation process which seals the castings, verified through our leak test capability.
