Why is IATF 16949 Certification Preferred When Manufacturing for the Automotive Industry?

ISO/TS 16949, originally created in 1999, has been replaced with IATF 16949 – a standard that establishes the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS), specifically for the automotive sector. As of October 2017, audits were no longer allowed to be conducted to ISO/TS 16949, and companies were required to transition to the new IATF 16949. The main focus or reason for the IATF 16949 standard is to be the framework for continual improvements and development of the QMS. IATF 16949:2016 is an independent QMS standard fully aligned with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
